Inside a Relationship: Be Mine

Setting: on the phone, before Valentine's day
Scenario: The Boyfriend and I set a $10 limit for Valentine's Day gifts. I, of course, already had his gift since before Christmas. Then, I saw this cake on several blogs. I have a heart shaped cake pan . . .

So two weeks before Valentine's Day, I baked the cakes to freeze. That was a process: make the batter, bake one cake, cool cake, bake another cake, cool that cake, clean freezer so it doesn't taint cakes, prepare cakes to freeze, then place everything into the freezer.

I talked to the Boyfriend on the phone about 3/4 of the way through the process.

Me: I'm making your valentine.
The Boyfriend: Ohhh!!!
Me: Yes, why do I look at the Internet and find pictures of things and then think "I can do that!"? I need to stop looking at the Internet.
The Boyfriend: *laughs*
Me: I should have just shown you a picture of this really cool thing I thought about making, and then you would have said "Aw, that's nice, but looks like a lot of work. So I'm glad you didn't make that. I love you". Then we would make-out!
The Boyfriend: *laughs* So I take it you aren't including labor costs in your $10 gift?

He already owned a copy of The Dark Knight on DVD (the original gift); I'm glad I made the cake.
