Pretty Packaging: Melanie's Birthday

Last month, Melanie turned 25. I think the first birthday party of hers I attended was her 16th, so this marked NINE YEARS of celebrating her birthday as a friend.

I saw these bicycle printed underwear at Target a few months ago, and they screamed Melanie! So I've officially become the person who buys gifts way ahead of time and saves them for the occasion. Really living up to the Grandma Jill moniker.

To continue with "packaging things like the girls on the Internet do", I used one of my favorite paper products in my stash. These kraft library card style cards are something I picked up years ago at Hobby Lobby. I covered the tag with pink paper from the Martha craft line and added a pink grosgrain ribbon pull.

Gift tag out of pocket

I stitched the undies onto the card with a few whips of embroidery floss.

Folded undies, sewn to card

On the left is the pocket that the tag fits into. I wrapped the pocket with a strip of white card stock, securing it in the back with double sided tape.

Side by side

I wrote a note on the inside flaps of the paper. The whole thing was secured with a sticker and an M stamp.

Gift tag opened

The final product! It all fit neatly into the matching envelope, and safely arrived in Texas in time for the birthday celebration.

I still hate the word "panties" probably because Victoria Secrets uses it "bra and panty sale". That's why I used the word "undies".

Also, I thought it was ok that I showed the Internet your underoos because I folded them all lady like.
