Serves 4-5 people
Ingredients
3-4 apples (any type you have)
1 tablespoon of cinnamon
1 stick of butter, chilled
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
standard size round cake pan
caramel sauce*
vanilla ice cream**
* optional
** not optional (IMHO)
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
2. Peel, core and slice apples. Place in bowl.
3. Sprinkle with Cinnamon. Coat thoroughly.
4. Pour apples into greased pan.
5. Cut butter into tiny little pieces.
6. In a bowl, combine flour, sugar and butter.
7. Using your fingers, incorporate the butter with the dry ingredients to form a coarse texture.
8. Spread mixture on top of apples in pan.
9. Put in the oven for 20 minutes.
10. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees. Cook until topping is no longer soft, 20-30 additional minutes.
11. Let stand at least 15 minutes.
12. If you like, top with caramel sauce and serve with ice cream.
